This Privacy Policy explains what information Emely Correa (emelycorrea.com) collects when you visit, how that information is used, and the choices you have. I keep data collection to what's genuinely needed to run the site.
1. What I collect
Information you give me
When you subscribe to the newsletter, email me, or fill out a form, you're giving me your email address and the contents of your message. I use this only to respond to you and to send the newsletter you signed up for.
Information collected automatically
When you visit emelycorrea.com, my server and analytics tools may automatically log:
- Your IP address and approximate geographic location (country or city level — never a street address).
- Your browser, operating system, and device type.
- The pages you view, how long you spend on them, and how you arrived (referring site or search engine).
- Standard server logs (request times, response codes) used for debugging and abuse prevention.
2. Cookies and tracking
Emely Correa uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the site, measure traffic, and where applicable serve advertising. These fall into three categories:
- Strictly necessary cookies. Required for the site to function — for example, remembering your preferences during a single browsing session. These can't be disabled without breaking the site.
- Analytics cookies. Help me understand which articles are useful and how visitors get to them. I use providers such as Google Analytics. These cookies don't personally identify you to me.
- Advertising cookies. If display ads are shown (for example through Google AdSense), advertising partners may set cookies to show more relevant ads and measure ad performance.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Be aware that some parts of the site may not work as intended without them.
3. Third-party services
I use trusted third-party services that have their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics — to understand how the site is used. Google's privacy policy.
- Google AdSense — to display advertising. Google ads privacy policy.
- Email service providers — to deliver the newsletter (if you subscribe).
- Hosting provider — handles routine server logs and basic abuse prevention.
4. Google AdSense and personalized ads
Google, as a third-party vendor, may use cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to show ads based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of third-party vendor use of cookies for personalized ads by visiting aboutads.info.
5. How I use information
The information collected is used to:
- Operate, maintain, and improve Emely Correa.
- Send newsletters and updates to subscribers who opted in.
- Respond to questions, corrections, and other reader messages.
- Understand which content is genuinely helpful so I publish more of it.
- Serve relevant advertising through the ad networks listed above.
- Detect and prevent abuse of the site.
- Comply with legal obligations.
6. How I share information
I do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Information is shared only:
- With third-party service providers (analytics, ad networks, email delivery, hosting) strictly to perform services on my behalf.
- If required by law, a valid legal request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Emely Correa, our users, or others.
- If Emely Correa is ever sold or merges with another business, in which case privacy commitments transfer with it.
7. Data retention
Personal information is retained only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected — newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe, contact emails are kept for reference, and analytics data is retained according to the provider's default settings.
8. Your rights (US, EU, UK and beyond)
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- The right to know what personal information is collected and how it's used (CCPA, GDPR).
- The right to access the personal information held about you.
- The right to correct inaccurate information.
- The right to delete your information (right to be forgotten).
- The right to opt out of newsletters and marketing.
- The right to opt out of the "sale" of personal information (CCPA) — note: I do not sell personal information.
- The right to file a complaint with a data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, email hello@emelycorrea.com. I respond to verified requests within a reasonable timeframe.
9. Children's privacy (COPPA)
Emely Correa is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, please contact me and I'll delete it promptly.
10. Security
I take reasonable steps to protect the information collected — encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to email subscriber lists, and standard hosting-provider security. No internet transmission is 100% secure, and absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
11. International users
If you access Emely Correa from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the site, you consent to that transfer.
12. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a Do Not Track signal. There's no consistent industry standard for responding to these signals, so this site does not currently respond to DNT — but you have full opt-out controls listed in section 4.
13. Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be revised to reflect changes in how data is handled or new legal requirements. Continued use of the site after a change is posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
